Recycling1. ConcreteThe product is crushed and screened to specific sizes either to conform to contracts already in place or to meet market Following crushing and screening, material is relocated, by loader, to designated stockpile sites. The crushing and screening process produces 4 products:
Stockpiles of drainage product and 20mm minus roadbase produced from crushed concrete can be tested for conformity to Resource NSW’s Specification for Supply of Recycled Materials for pavements Earthworks & Drainage. The type and frequency of testing shall be as per Section 5, Table 3 of the specification.
* Figures in brackets indicate reduced frequency after 6 conforming stockpiles 2. BricksThe product is screened to specific sizes either to conform to contracts already in place or to meet market demands. The crushing and screening process produces 3 products:
3. Bricks/Concrete/Tiles/GravelThe product is screened to specific sizes either to conform to contracts already in place or to meet market demands. 4. Green Waste (Organic)Green waste is shredded/mulched using a tub grinder into compost material. Three different types of compost are produced:
Stockpiles of Premium compost, Forest compost and Pallet mulch have been tested for beneficial use against the Virgin Excavated Natural Material (VENM) guidelines as defined in NSWEPA Waste Guidelines. On-site QA field testing shall also be carried out on the compost stockpiles to obtain the following data:
Field testing shall be carried out to Resource NSW Recylced Organics Unit’s specification for Producing Quality Compost 2003 Ed2. 5. Green Timber/LogsGreen timber and logs are screened and mulched to specific sizes, using a tub grinder, either to conform to contracts already in place or to meet market demands. 6. StumpsStumps are screened and mulched to specific sizes, using a tub grinder, either to conform to contracts already in place or to meet market demands. 7. SoilOur recycled soil is a screened soil of maximum particle size of 20mm. The recycled soil is dark in colour with a bulk density of 1.7 ton/m3. The extracted recycled topsoil can be mixed with GPM and sand in the following ratio to produce organic topsoil (OT): 60:20:20. 60% Extracted topsoil 20% Premium mulch (GPM) 20% Sand Once the Organic Topsoil has been produced and stockpiled, the Yard Manager can take a sample and deliver to a soil testing laboratory for a full soil analysis and bulk density testing. The full soil analysis will indicate the topsoil’s chemical properties including:
The analysis will also indicate suitability of the organic topsoil to be used in various landscaping applications. |
