Forest MulchBackgroundNature always intended that fallen leaves, branches, grasses and shrubs decompose back into the soil from which it had grown. Placing our Forest Mulch on to your garden bed surface adds well-needed nutrients back into the soil over time. Material DescriptionOur Forest Mulch is made from sorted green waste on our premises. After shredding and adding moisture, the mulch is stored in windrows for at least 21 days. The material temperature is monitored during this period to achieve average temperatures greater than 65ºC. The material’s moisture content is typically 46% with a bulk density of 0.24 ton/m3. (The mulch is also tested as VENM (Virgin Excavated Natural Material) as defined by the NSWEPA). Our Forest Mulch is textured, brown and rustic in appearance. BenefitsBesides significantly increasing the amount of nutrients going into the soil, yard mulch also reduces the amount of water loss from the soil. For example, 5m of yard mulch spread over 50m2 of garden beds at Cardiff, reduced the summer water bill by $36.00 (Graph attached). Mulching also significantly reduces the labour required to weed gardens. Uses
