Clay / Fill Soil

Background

The surplus spoil or natural excavated soils from construction sites has historically ended up in landfill sites. This practice has become unacceptable because of two main reasons:

  • Council Tips are running out of land fill capacity and either reject soils or have inhibitive pricing structures in place.
  • The natural low lying land and swamp areas in and around cities are a last haven area for wildlife, native vegetation and small marine creatures, which are all essential for sustainable living. Today EPA and Water Recourses strictly protect these sensitive environmental areas.

Properly managed soils are a valuable resource and can be suitably recycled.

Material Description

The clay or soil material is unscreened material stored in a central stockpile. Generally it is a clay based material, which can be spread and compacted with suitable earthmoving machinery. The material has been tested as VENM.

Benefits

This material is readily available for your next project, which requires filling or levelling.

Uses

  • Used as general fill to raise areas. Common uses include road shoulders and yard levelling. (The material should not be used as structural fill unless directed by a Geotechnical Engineer).
