20mm Minus Roadbase
Background
Demolished concrete is a valuable resource material that can be suitably recycled back into various construction materials.
Using recycled concrete in your next construction project eliminates the need for demolished concrete being tipped at Council land fill sites.
Material Description
Our 20mm minus roadbase material is a graded roadbase material made from recycled concrete. A typical particle size distribution table is attached showing the maximum particle size below 20mm and then evenly graded to a sand particle size. The material is readily compactable to 100% standard compaction tests. Typically, the material's uncompacted density is 1.40 tonne/m3. (It's fully compacted density is 1.58 tonne/m3). The material is well graded, binds well and is resistant to wearing.
Benefits
Our 20mm minus roadbase material is an excellent road making material. The material compacts well, has a high beam strength and is impervious to water (i.e. when it gets wet, it doesn’t tend to expand and shrink unlike clay base gravels). It has a relatively low density that results in lower purchase and transport costs. The material is capable of being worked in wetter conditions (less down time).
Uses
Our 20mm minus roadbase material has many pavement construction uses.
Typical uses are:
- 200mm thick sub-base layer for carparks or roadways
- 150mm thick base course layer for carparks or roadways
- 150mm thick sub-base layer under concrete driveways
- 75mm thick sub-base layer under concrete footpaths or brick landscape paving
- compacted and tested layers for building pads.
Specification
The manufacture of our 20mm minus roadbase material is guided by the “Specification for Supply of Recycled Material for Pavements, Earthworks & Drainage” Issue No. 2 dated June 2003 produced by Resource NSW.
